On February 27th we will be hosting our first Pajama Crop. It should be tons of fun. In celebration of being our inaugural Pajama Crop there will be one great participation prize. Once your layout is complete, upload your photo of it to our Discussion Board and you will be entered into the draw. You have until March 6th to send it in. The instructions and pictures for the crop will appear on this page, one step at a time starting at 7:30pm on February 27th. Each step will end with the time that the next step will appear. If you keep this page open in your web browser, be sure to refresh / reload your page after the assigned time and then scroll down to get the next instructions to appear. Check out our discussion board to view the supply list and all other information related to this crop. Then, while you are cropping you can use the board to ask questions and make comments or even chat with each other while cropping. Have fun! NOTE: Before we start, I'd like to recommend that you do not adhere any of this layout together (not even photos to mats) until it is complete. Here are the papers that I have chosen to use for this project.
Time: Approximately 5 minutes. Choose your base colour and set aside. Now, using a different colour cardstock, cut a piece that is 6" x 6". Next step will be posted at 7:35pm.
Time: Approximately 5 minutes. Cut four pieces of paper to the following sizes, to be used later on:
Next step will be posted at 7:40pm.
Time: Approximately 5 minutes. Choose one of your photos and single or double mat it. Do not glue down, just lay down! Next step will be posted at 7:45pm.
Time: Approximately 30 minutes. You need six eyelets, ribbon and 1 pattern paper. Using 1 of your patterns, cut 2 pieces:
If you've never done these corners, try it on scrap paper first.
a) 1" x 2" paper. b) Fold it in half and open the folded paper. Fold the top corner down to the bottom, following the folded line. c) Do the same to the other side. Now you have a triangle. d) Fold along the original fold line (step b) again to fold your triangle in half. e) Turn your triangle so that the longest side is on the bottom. f) Snip a piece off the top. Start small; you can keep snipping until you like the size of this. (After each snip, open it up to check.) g) Once the corner is finished (as shown) you can ink the edges for a distressed look, if you like.
Follow steps a - c as shown above. d) Mark 3 spots on each side of the split. e) Punch holes where the spots are. f) Add eyelets and ribbon. If you don't have eyelets, just use the ribbon. Next step will be posted at 8:15pm.
Time: Approximately 45 minutes. You may need your letters, embellishments, diecuts, corners, photos and mats. You are now ready to complete your first layout - a 6" x 6" layout based on one of your photos. Using your photo and corners and 6" x 6" cardstock, create a complete 6" x 6" layout. You may use any of your embellishments, diecuts, letters and paper. Be creative as you put together this layout. Don't forget to add distressing techniques if you'd like to. You can glue this layout together. Set aside.
Congratulations, you're doing great. Take a break. Have a snack. Feel free to visit with other Pajama Croppers on our Discussion Board. Next step will be posted at 9:15pm. Here is how mine turned out.
Time: Approximately 10 minutes. Mat your other photo (as many layers as you like). Next step will be posted at 9:25pm.
Time: Approximately 30 minutes. Create your title. Remember to use the two words that you chose for your theme. Next step will be posted at 9:55pm.
Time: Approximately 20 minutes. Make two tags, any shape, any size. Label your photos using these tags. Next step will be posted at 10:15pm.
Time: Approximately 30 minutes. By now you should have the following pieces:
The picture below shows the pieces that I have created, but not yet assembled into a layout. Play around with your pieces until you like the layout. Finish it up with embellishments and distressing techniques. Finally, glue it all down.
Next step will be posted at 10:45pm.
To enter the participation contest, take a photo of your layout and upload it to my website. You can do this by replying to the message "Completed Layouts" in the Pajama Crop topic of our Discussion Board. I will draw the winner on Sunday, March 7th from everyone who uploads a picture. Thanks for your participation. I hope you had fun and will join me for another Pajama Crop. My layout will appear here at 11:00pm.
